Parent & Student Lesson Guidelines Agreement
The following is an effort to clearly outline lesson guidelines for lessons
El Dorado Music Lessons
REVISED 4/16/15 …12/29/20
When you enter a lesson format with El Dorado Music Lessons you purchase a given amount time A.K.A. a Membership.
This Membership gives you Four (4) 30 minute one-on-one lessons one day a week.
This time is reserved for you and your instructor and you are committed to this time
Whether you are there or not. There are a few guidelines, which govern this.
Guidelines:
A. The lesson is for you: so with the exception of your parents or guardians, no one will be allowed to attend your lesson without your instructor’s consent.
B. Be on time to your lesson: Being on time keeps you from cheating yourself out of the money; you paid for your lesson. When you are late you lose the time you are late for that lesson day.
C. Cancellation of a lesson & Make ups: We do NO make ups for you canceling your lesson day and time! If your instructor cancels lessons you will get a makeup date and time for the lesson day and time the instructor canceled on you. EML will not give make ups for any weather-related lesson cancellations/ Acts of GOD. I.e. Snow/Blizzards Tornados, Freezing Rain, Freezing Temps etc... This is due to EML wanting all parents and students to be safe and not risk bodily harm or Death for a music lesson.
D. Paying for your Membership/lessons: is generally done on a schedule of paying for a one month membership of lessons on the first lessons day and week of the month then if you stay on taking lessons you will pay for your next month’s membership on the Third (3rd) week of each month keeping your membership paid up for the next month…You will always pay a month in advance for your memberships NOTE: we do not take late payments. You can pay by using a Debit Card, Credit Card, cash or by check made out to: El Dorado Music Lessons. Next we will give you a reminder/courtesy call/text that your membership payment is due for the next month’s membership.
E. Lesson length: Are 30minutes in length once a week on __________ at ___________.
F. Individual lesson plan: The curriculum of each student depends on the musical experience and background you have had. Everyone has different musical goals, and wants to learn different aspects of music. The method the El Dorado Music Lessons uses to teach depends on what the student wants to learn and what experience they have had.
G. Student requirement: 1) A person who wants to have fun learning about music!
H. Playing and practice. The student will do his/her best and to try and practice a minimum of two and half (2 ½ ) hours a week. To date, there has been no successful substitute found for practice, now failing to invest quality time in practice results in wasting your time, your instructor’s time and your money. Short amounts of quality time each day are far better than an extended practice once a week. Learning to play well requires determination, commitment and hard work. Your instructor is there to help you. The lessons are planned for your benefit and tailored to you. If you have any questions, need help with school band music, want to work on a particular song, or don’t understand something you need only ask . . . there is no such thing as a dumb question.
I. Goal Setting & Reviews. Long and short term goals are set by the student and instructor at our first meeting, then a review is done every four (4) weeks to see if we are meeting the goals set.
J. Holidays/Vacation. El Dorado Music lessons will be closed for lessons on the following Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th Week, Labor Day, Halloween Day, Thanks Giving day, Christmas Week And Spring Break Week
You Fully Understand and will follow the above guidelines to the best of your abilities.
